Jeans are the most widely worn dress in the world today. They are popular throughout the world. Given below is the detailed story of how jeans were discovered and how they got their name.
The word Jeans comes from a material Europe. It was named after the sailors from Genoa in Italy who wore clothes made out of the material. In the 18th century, jeans were mad from a variety of materials. But later they were manufactured completely from cotton. Workers wore them as the material did not wear out easily. They were dyed with a material called Indigo and hence from this they got their dark blue color. During the California Gold Rush in The mid half of the 18th century, a man called Leob Strauss went to San Francisco to sell jeans in wholesale for the miners. Later he changed his name from Leob to Levi.
Soon after that, there was a complaint from the miners that the pockets in the jeans were easily torn off. A man called Jacob Davis came up with the idea of using metal rivets as fasteners to keep the pockets from tearing. He joined hands with Strauss and they started to manufacture jeans.
Now you know from where the jeans we wear today come from…….
